How to Throw a Witchy Party/Photoshoot

Are you wanting to throw a spooky party or photoshoot? Here’s what I did and what I would do differently!

I used to do photography full time and out of the hundreds of photoshoots I’ve done this is still one of my favorite shoots ever!

LOCATION

Your location can totally make or break your party/photoshoot but this is where the unexpected spots might surprise you! I envisioned this shoot to be spooky, vintage, rustic, and classy. We drove out to Lake Pleasant in Arizona and found a spot on the edge of the lake that is a giant dry lake bed. THESE TREES are what stopped me in my tracks and I knew we had to do a shoot here!

You could go to an abandoned building, find fall trees, or any location without cars/homes in the background!

I collaborated with several other businesses for the tablescape, the cake, and then I contributed as the photographer and creator.

TABLESCAPE

First off, our tablescape was lovely and I still love how it turned out to this day!

Things you need for a good tablescape:

Table: So many options to create your own table! Thrift an old table, make your own with pallets low to the ground, old doors could be laid on blocks!

Candles: Taper candles can be put in holders or hung from the ceiling. Battery candles or Real candles can bring any event to life!

Candlesticks: Thrifting candle holders is a great option but if you want things to be spooky you can get creative!

Layered plates: Glass, plastic, antique, unique, the options are endless here! But layering gives such an elevated look!

Goblets/cups: You can't go wrong with mixing and matching!

Silverware: Gold or black would be such a gorgeous way to go!

Fabrics/Cloth: You could do a spider web tablecloth or anything that gives texture

Cake: Having a spooky cake totally transformed this photoshoot and completed our table!

Details

-Butterflies

-Old Keys: to tie around your napkins

-Pumpkins: layered and oiled on the ground or table

-Skulls: on the table or around the table

- Flowers: in vases or various heights and colors! I wish I wouldn't tried incorporating flowers!

-Dried Vase Fillers

-Crows: Bring life to any table

-Branches: Dead branches to lay across table or stand up in the ground

-Witches Hats: You can hang them from branches or line them along the table.
